This itinerary is built around the two courses at PGA Frisco and supplemented by two of the most respected private clubs in the DFW metro. Fields Ranch East, the Gil Hanse design that hosted the 2027 PGA Championship, anchors the trip. Fields Ranch West provides a contrasting but equally accomplished round.
Fly into Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), which is 25 miles and roughly 30 minutes from PGA Frisco. Check into the Omni PGA Frisco Resort, a 500-room property that opened in 2023 alongside the courses it serves.
The centrepiece round of the trip. Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner designed Fields Ranch East across rolling terrain that challenged the assumption that North Texas is flat.
TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney is approximately 20 minutes northeast of PGA Frisco and requires member or guest access through Invited (formerly ClubCorp). The original Tom Weiskopf and Phil Smith design opened in 2004 and underwent a $22 million renovation led by Lanny Wadkins.
Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton is the most demanding course on this itinerary and one of the most difficult in Texas. Steve Smyers transformed the former Columbian Club into a design that features water on 14 holes, small and fast greens, and a course rating of 80.
Depart from DFW, which is 30 minutes from the resort. An early flight allows a final morning at the PGA District or the Omni's facilities before leaving.
A rental car is essential. The courses on this itinerary span a 40-mile radius across the DFW metro, and ride-share costs over four days would exceed a rental. The Dallas North Tollway connects Frisco to Dallas and points south; a TollTag or TxTag is recommended for electronic toll payment. Allow extra time during rush hours, particularly on the north-south corridors between 7 and 9am and 4 and 7pm. The Omni PGA Frisco Resort ($350 to $600 per night) serves as the base for all four nights. The best months for this trip are March through May and September through November, when temperatures are comfortable and the courses are at peak condition. Summer play is possible but requires early morning tee times, as afternoon temperatures regularly exceed 95 degrees from June through August.
