Booking via Expedia
The Monterey Plaza Hotel sits on Cannery Row, built on pilings directly above Monterey Bay. Parts of the building hang over the water, which gives it a different relationship to the Pacific than the clifftop Pebble Beach properties: less grand, more immediate. The 290 rooms include marble bathrooms and Nespresso machines, and the Vista Blue penthouse spa runs on the rooftop with bay views.
There is no on-site golf and no Pebble Beach Resorts advance tee time access. What you do get is a 15-minute drive to Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill, plus walking access to Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Free bicycle rentals open up the 18-mile Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail, which runs past the front door. For a group with non-golfers, or a couple where one plays Pebble and the other does not, the location handles both agendas without compromise.
$280 to $500 nightly, premium for Monterey but well below Pebble Beach Resorts pricing. Book direct through the hotel or check rates via the link on this page. Parking carries an additional fee.
