Trip at a Glance
Fly into Palm Springs International (PSP) and drive 20 minutes east to La Quinta Resort & Club, your home base for PGA West and your booking access for the days ahead. For an afternoon tee time, head 15 minutes west to The Classic Club in Palm Desert.
The centerpiece round. PGA West Stadium is reachable from La Quinta Resort & Club without a car, or with a very short drive.
The second PGA West round, and the contrast with the Stadium is the point. Where Dye builds theater, Nicklaus builds strategy.
Check out and drive 15 minutes west to the Grand Hyatt Indian Wells, adjacent to Indian Wells Golf Resort and offering discounted green fees. Fought's Players Course at 7,376 yards draws from classic American architecture and presents strategic complexity through green contour and bunker placement rather than the PGA West formula of dramatic hazards and visual tension.
Check out of the Grand Hyatt Indian Wells and drive 20 minutes west to PSP. With a later flight, a morning visit to The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in Palm Desert, 10 minutes from the hotel, gives you a final non-golf moment before the airport.

Plan the Practicalities
Splitting the trip between La Quinta Resort & Club for Days 1 to 3 and Grand Hyatt Indian Wells for Days 4 to 5 reduces driving and takes advantage of La Quinta's PGA West proximity and the Grand Hyatt's Indian Wells discount. A single base at either property works but adds 15 to 20 minutes of driving on the days when courses sit at the far end of the valley. A rental car is necessary regardless, since the valley's nine cities span 30 miles.
