Streamsong Resort and Cabot Citrus Farms sit approximately 90 miles apart in central Florida's interior, connected by a 90-minute drive through ranch land, citrus groves, and small towns that bear no resemblance to the coastal Florida of popular imagination. The two properties share an ambition to build serious golf on land that outsiders would not instinctively associate with the game, but they achieve it through different terrain, different architects, and different stages of development. This itinerary connects them across four nights and four courses, with time for the landscape between them.
Fly into Tampa International Airport (TPA) and drive 80 miles southeast to Bowling Green. Orlando International (MCO) is a comparable option at 90 miles.
Gil Hanse's Black course opened in 2017 and provides the architectural contrast that makes playing two Streamsong courses on this itinerary more instructive than playing two by the same designer. Hanse's minimalist bunker style, larger green complexes, and emphasis on firm and fast conditions differ from Doak's approach on the Red, and the differences are more legible because you played the Red the previous day.
Check out of Streamsong and drive approximately 90 miles northwest to Brooksville. The drive takes roughly 90 minutes and passes through Lakeland, where a stop at Circle B Bar Reserve adds a morning nature experience at no cost.
The Roost, Cabot's par-3 course, is designed for a morning round before departure. The collaborative design by Keith Rhebb, Rob Collins, Riley Johns, and other architects means each hole carries a different architectural signature, and the transitions between design philosophies make the round a conversation about course architecture conducted through play rather than lecture.
A rental car is required for the full duration of this itinerary. The drive between Streamsong and Cabot Citrus Farms is approximately 90 miles and takes about 90 minutes. Rental cars from Tampa run $30 to $60 per day. Both resorts are guests-only for golf. Streamsong operates 228 rooms; Cabot Citrus Farms is smaller at approximately 50 rooms and expanding. Book both properties in advance during peak season (November through April). The itinerary sequences Streamsong first because its larger resort infrastructure and three championship courses benefit from two nights, while Cabot's current scale is well suited to a focused two-night visit. The order can be reversed without loss, but the architectural narrative flows more naturally from established to emerging.
