1,267 Acres of Wetlands, Boardwalks, and Florida Wildlife at No Cost
Circle B Bar Reserve covers 1,267 acres near Lakeland, approximately 30 minutes north of Streamsong Resort. The preserve is free to enter and open from sunrise to sunset daily. Boardwalk trails wind through wetlands, hardwood hammocks, and along the shore of Lake Hancock, providing access to habitat that supports alligators, wading birds, bald eagles, white-tailed deer, and a seasonal population of migrating waterfowl.
The boardwalks make the wildlife accessible without requiring technical hiking ability or specialized equipment. The wetland sections are particularly productive for bird observation early in the morning, when herons, egrets, and anhingas are actively feeding. Alligator sightings are common and typically occur at close but safe range from the elevated boardwalk.
For companions or golfers on a rest day, Circle B provides a genuinely engaging Florida nature experience at no cost. The reserve operates at a different pace than the resort, and the two hours spent on the trails serve as a useful counterpoint to the intensity of championship golf.
Located at 4399 Winter Lake Rd, Lakeland, FL 33803. Open sunrise to sunset daily. Free admission. Approximately 30 minutes north of Streamsong Resort. Boardwalk trails are flat and accessible. Bring water, sunscreen, and binoculars. Allow two to three hours.
