The experience
More than 100 shops and a rotating lineup of restaurants are organized into themed villages around the water, with Ripley's Aquarium ($39.99 adult admission) and WonderWorks as the standout standalone attractions. As a group destination it works precisely because it asks nothing of you: split up, browse, eat at different restaurants, reconvene without coordination. On a rain day, Ripley's two-hour aquarium tunnel and ray touch pools earn the admission price. Evenings are when the waterfront fills out and the atmosphere shifts from commercial to social.
