This itinerary covers the strongest four-course combination in Southwest Florida, anchored by Tiburón's two Greg Norman designs and supported by a Rees Jones layout at Naples Grande and Robert Trent Jones Sr.'s water-laden Flamingo Island at Lely Resort. The trip moves through four distinct design philosophies across four days, with enough off-course texture to prevent the schedule from feeling like a forced march.
Fly into Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers and drive the 35 to 45 minutes south to Naples. The route is straightforward along I-75, and the transition from highway to the landscaped boulevards of North Naples happens quickly.
The Gold Course at Tiburón is the centrepiece of this trip and one of the most recognised golf facilities in Florida. Greg Norman designed the layout in 1998, and it has hosted the PGA Tour's QBE Shootout and the LPGA's CME Group Tour Championship, which together have produced a televised course that regular visitors can play on the same routing the professionals use.
The Black Course is Norman's second Tiburón design, opened in 2001, and it presents a different character than the Gold despite sharing the same property. Pine straw lines the fairways rather than conventional rough, and crushed coquina waste areas replace traditional sand bunkers in several locations.
The final round shifts south to Lely Resort and Robert Trent Jones Sr.'s Flamingo Island design.
A rental car is essential. No practical public transit connects the courses, and the spread from Tiburón in North Naples to Lely Resort in the south covers roughly 20 miles. Midsize rental rates from RSW average $35 to $65 per day. The best months for this trip are January through March, when temperatures hold between the mid-70s and low 80s, humidity is manageable, and the courses are at peak conditioning. Green fees and hotel rates are at their highest during this window, and tee times at Tiburón should be booked well in advance. The same trip in May or October offers comparable course conditions at significantly lower cost, with the trade-off of warmer temperatures and moderate rain risk.
