Streamsong / Central Florida: How to Book and What to Pay
Streamsong Resort occupies a singular position in American golf. Built on a former phosphate mining site in rural Polk County, Florida, the property is home to four courses designed by a collective of the game's most respected architects. The resort operates as a self-contained destination, isolated from any metropolitan center by design. Booking runs through a single reservation system, pricing is straightforward but not inexpensive, and the experience is structured around multi-day stays that make the drive from Tampa or Orlando worthwhile.
The Four Courses
Streamsong Red, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, and Streamsong Blue, designed by Tom Doak, opened in 2012 and established the property's reputation. The Chain, a 19-hole short course designed by Doak and built on reclaimed land between the main courses, opened in 2023 and adds a casual, walkable complement to the full-length layouts.
Streamsong Black, a Gil Hanse design, followed in 2017 and is widely considered the strongest of the three championship courses.
Streamsong Red
Green fees for Red, Blue, and Black range from $200 to $375 per round depending on season. The Chain is priced at $50 to $75. All four courses are walking-only for resort guests; no motorized carts are available on the championship courses. Pull carts are provided, and caddies are available at approximately $50 to $65 per bag plus gratuity.
The Resort-First Model
Streamsong operates on a resort-guest-priority system. Tee times on all courses are reserved exclusively for overnight guests, and there is no outside play. This means booking golf at Streamsong requires booking a room. The model simplifies the tee time equation but introduces a higher minimum spend for the trip, as room rates during peak season start around $300 per night before golf fees.
Reservations are made through the Streamsong website or by phone, with booking windows opening 60 to 90 days in advance. Early booking is not optional for peak-season trips.
During peak demand periods, particularly January through March, attractive tee times on Black can fill within days of the window opening.
Packages
Streamsong's stay-and-play packages are the standard booking vehicle and represent meaningful savings over assembling room and round pricing individually. A typical two-night, three-round package during peak season prices between $1,200 and $1,800 per person, including lodging, green fees, and access to the practice facilities and short course.
The resort offers packages at multiple tiers, with options that guarantee play on all three championship courses and options that allow guests to double up on a preferred layout. Packages also include access to The Chain at no additional charge, making it an ideal morning warm-up or late-afternoon wind-down.
Group packages for eight or more players offer modest per-person discounts and can include reserved dining and meeting space. The resort's sales team handles group bookings directly.

Tip
Summer golf at Streamsong is viable with early morning tee times. The courses open at first light, and completing 19 holes before early afternoon avoids the worst of the heat and the daily thunderstorm cycle. The courses maintain strong conditioning year-round, and the playing experience in summer is comparable to peak season minus the crowds.
May and October sit in a favorable shoulder window: rates are below peak, weather is warm but manageable, and tee sheet pressure is reduced.
The Walking Experience
Walking is not merely permitted at Streamsong; it is the only option. The courses were designed for walking, with green-to-tee transitions that flow naturally across the terrain. The sandy soil drains quickly, making the ground firm underfoot even after rain. For players accustomed to riding, the physical demands are moderate. The terrain has gentle elevation changes from the old mining contours, but nothing that approaches mountain golf.
Caddies enhance the experience materially, particularly on Black, where the green complexes are intricate and the routing rewards local knowledge. Budget $110 to $130 per round for caddie and gratuity.
