A Joe Lee design on St. Simons Island with saltwater marshes, mature trees, and the lowest green fees in the Golden Isles.

The King and Prince Golf Club, formerly the Hampton Club, is a Joe Lee design from 1989 on the southern end of St. Simons Island, operating as a semi-private course tied to The King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort. At $95 to $135 with cart included, it's the lowest green fee in this Golden Isles guide.
The layout plays 6,462 yards from the back tees at par 72, and the slope of 140 says more about the challenge than the yardage does. Saltwater marsh comes into play on several holes, creating forced carries and defining the edges of fairways with real consequence for misses. Mature live oaks and coastal pines frame the corridors and block recovery lines where the marsh doesn't already provide the penalty. Lee used the natural features well, and the course feels integrated with its setting rather than imposed on it.
The on-site driving range gets you warmed up. Conditioning sits where the price suggests: maintained for enjoyable golf rather than the tournament-level presentation you'll find at the Sea Island courses.
For a marsh-and-tree coastal Georgia round, this is the most accessible price point in the Golden Isles. The course is open to both resort guests and the public, which makes it the obvious pick if you're visiting St. Simons Island without a Sea Island booking. Resort guests pay the lower end of the range. Stay at The King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort, where oceanfront rooms run $200 to $350 per night, and the combined daily cost lands well below what the Sea Island properties require. That math serves people who want both beach and budget.
Tee times are available through the booking link on this page, or by calling the resort. The course is open year-round, and a rental car is recommended though most St. Simons accommodations are a short drive away. For a longer Golden Isles itinerary, pair with the Seaside, Plantation, or Retreat courses at Sea Island Golf Club, or the Sea Palms Resort course.
This is the round that makes a Golden Isles trip work without the Sea Island green fees. Come for the marsh and the live oaks, and leave the trophy expectations at the bridge.
