Some tour operators include a stop at Seven Magic Mountains, an art installation of brightly painted stacked boulders along Interstate 15 south of the city.

Views from the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, which spans the canyon 900 feet above the Colorado River, provide the most dramatic perspective of the dam and the surrounding canyon walls.

Tours depart daily year-round. The drive from the Strip takes approximately 45 minutes. The dam complex involves moderate walking, including stairs and elevator access within the power plant on VIP tours. Summer temperatures at the dam are comparable to the Las Vegas valley. The Arizona side of the dam operates on Mountain Standard Time year-round, which does not observe daylight saving.
