The Dallas Arboretum spreads across 66 acres along the southeastern shore of White Rock Lake, roughly 30 minutes south of PGA Frisco. Themed gardens rotate displays with the seasons. Spring brings Dallas Blooms, when more than 500,000 bulbs flower across the grounds. Autumn introduces a pumpkin village that draws heavy local attendance. Even outside marquee events, the permanent collections and garden architecture fill two to three hours easily.
The property was assembled from two historic estates, and the original mansions anchor the grounds with character most botanical gardens lack. The Jonsson Color Garden and the Paseo de Flores are the primary draws for adults, with formal plantings showing serious horticultural range. The Children's Adventure Garden, a $3 add-on, is interactive and well-designed, useful for families but skippable for adults. Views across White Rock Lake shift with the light.
For a companion spending the morning away from the course, the Arboretum reliably delivers calm and a sense of deliberate maintenance within a major metro area.
$17 adults, $14 seniors, $12 ages 2 to 12. Open daily 9am to 5pm. Parking $15. Visit in the morning during summer; afternoons regularly run above 95 degrees. The grounds are mostly paved or mulched, accessible in standard footwear.
